Serving in Detroit is part of Fort Street’s long-standing commitment to care for the physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of our neighbors. Through hands-on outreach, partnerships, and consistent presence, we practice faith by meeting real needs and standing alongside those most often overlooked in our city.
Fort Street’s Open Door Ministry continues a legacy of care that began decades ago and remains central to our mission today. Since 1969, this ministry has provided food, medical care, clothing, and compassion to hundreds of people each week.
The Open Door ministry gathers on the fourth Sunday of each month to prepare food bags for distribution.
Fort Street partners with outreach teams that provide on-the-streets medical care for those in need. This work happens out of the church’s gymnasium and extends care directly into the community.
Magdalene’s Mission offers food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and compassionate presence to women who are survivors of human trafficking. This ministry operates in partnership with Fort Street and reflects the church’s commitment to dignity and care for all.
