Welcome Benjamin Ogden Born and raised in Detroit, Benjamin Ogden has always worked to promote the betterment of this city and its residents. Be it as a paramedic – nearly twenty years ago – or, now, as the Interim Director of the Open Door Program, Benjamin carries a high regard for those in need and a deep compassion for individuals struggling to better themselves and the world around them. With a background in psychology and counseling and a specialization in addictions-recovery, Benjamin has served as the Open Door’s Program Facilitator as well as the ‘Social Worker’/Case Manager since 2003. He has been at the forefront of our efforts to provide a greater scope of care to those in need, and he believes that, if provided the correct tools and resources, the people we help can and will succeed. Since his involvement with the Open Door, service has grown from a once-per-week program to one that now provides assistance daily and is accessible at four separate locations. He has helped us continue to blur the lines between participants, volunteers and professional staff so that we may better embody true hospitality to strangers.
