PASTOR NOMINATING COMMITTEE UPDATE
As you may recall in our last update The Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) reported that we were meeting weekly in an effort to complete our Church Information Form (CIF). The CIF is the document that prospective pastors initially review to learn about Fort Street Church. The PNC is happy to report that on February 13, 2008 Session unanimously approved the CIF. The following day February 14, 2008 The Detroit Presbytery Committee on Ministry reviewed and approved the CIF.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The CIF will be posted on line in a National Presbytery Database/website where it can be viewed by prospective pastors all across the country
Prospective pastors will read the CIF and indicate their interest by sending a Personal Information Form (PIF) to the PNC
The PNC will review PIF’s as they are received, evaluate candidates and decide whom to interview. Following phone interviews, face-to-face interviews, reference checking, and listening to sermons at neutral pulpit sites, the PNC will select a candidate to present to the congregation. The candidate will preach at Fort Street and be nominated at a special congregational meeting following this service. The PNC will continue to work until a new Pastor is installed.
In the interest of confidentiality, PNC members are not permitted to discuss any details of the work, the progress, or any information about prospective candidates, outside of the committee. We ask for your continued patience, understanding, and prayers during this process.
Your PNC: Pam Sharrow & Craig McLean (co-chairs) Andrew Bostrom, Ruth Boyce, Hertha Gast, Nancy Jackson, Milfordean Luster, Nnule Mpebe, Sabrinia Smith, & Qiana Sparks
