Dr.
Philip Olson
and his wife, Deborah, have lived in Michigan for more than 17
years. Mrs. Olson is an elementary school counselor in Vassar
and works part-time at the Gerholz Christian Counseling Center
in Flint. She is a part of our community as much as her commitments
allow. Rev. Olson served congregations in New Jersey and Ohio
before coming to Michigan, and held posts in Davison, Lansing,
Taylor, and Hartland, before coming to Fort Street Church. He
first served in the Detroit area as a seminary intern, in Southfield,
during the 1970s. Since completing his postgraduate work in 1989,
he has had training in spiritual formation and conflict mediation.
Dr.
Olson is an avid handyman and has renovated most of their home
in Davison, over the years. For "escape," he reads mysteries
and science fiction.
The
Olsons travel in their RV on vacation. Their sons are in southern
Florida and central Missouri, their parents are in Indiana and
New Jersey, and they attend the Annual New Wilmington Missionary
Conference, in Pennsylvania, in July.
