Jon
DeHorn
came to Fort Street Church as Interim Organist in 1996, reuniting
with his former pastor, The Reverend Donald Purkey, who was Interim
Pastor. He has been an assistant attorney general of Michigan
for nearly 34 years. Jon chose legal studies for his vocation,
rather than music; nevertheless, he studied organ with distinguished
teachers in Muskegon, Ann Arbor and Detroit. His love of church
music also was nurtured in fine choirs. Over the years, on frequent
trips to New York City, he has attended churches with renowned
music programs, where he has made extensive notes about the music
performed there.
Jon feels fortunate to have held occasional church organist positions,
through the years. He is particularly grateful for his years at
Fort Street Presbyterian Church, where he has enjoyed playing
the Swift Memorial Organ for "a gracious congregation"
and working with colleagues who also value Divine Worship. |
